09 March 2011, Quezon City - CARRD Assistant Director Marie Joy Demaluan and Research and Advocacy Officer Joe-Anna Marie Casidsid met with network and database administrators from Children International-Manila to discuss the feasibility of creating ICT-enabled information systems for three of its major program areas: (1) land tenure improvement; (2) agriculture for development (specifically, the Internal Quality Control System for sustainable agriculture); and (3) cooperative development. The project will involve the conceptualization, design, development, evaluation and application of information and communication technology in CARRD's service areas throughout the country.

Visayas-based CSOs support campaign on rational land use

CEBU CITY—Around 40 NGO and PO representatives from Visayas region participated in the Regional Consultation on NLUA on 16 February 2011.

The group discussed among others the compelling reasons for the enactment of a rationalized land use policy in the country. Some of which are to address conflicting land use and land related issues, and, to harmonize conflicting laws related to land use.
